More Cables, Need More Cables!...

Today I went to a job to do a simple cabling job, connecting a printer to a PC - only problem(s), the printer is 80meteres away from the base station & has a Serial only interface - On those occasions, I usually use 2 adaptors (Serial 9pin DB9-Female to RJ-45 - Serial 25pin DB25-Male to RJ-45), and couple those to a network cable of the desired length...

However, today it was different...  I couldn't find a Serial 9pin DB9-Female to RJ-45 adaptor in my toolbox, so I had to improvise.  And the cabling went as follows:

[1] USB - Cat5 Extender.
[2] 40meter Cat5 Cable.
[3] Terminator end of  USB - Cat5 Extender.
[4] Another USB - Cat5 Extender.
[5] Another 40meter Cat5 Cable.
[6] Other Terminator end of USB - Cat5 Extender.
[7] USB - Serial RS232 Adaptor.
[8] Serial 9pin Female-DB9 - 25Pin Male-DB25 Printer Cable...

Perfect, just perfect - And after tightly wrapping all connectors with insulation tape, we have the perfect botched job... and everybody is happy...  The client is not any wiser and they paid for all the extra bits of cabling...
